MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The city of Mobile has placed a hold on All Weather Roofing and Construction’s business license.

A city spokesperson tells FOX10 News the hold is because of the active investigation into the business. The hold lets the company stay open, but it cannot renew its license in January.

The city council has now called for a public hearing on July 14 to revoke that license. The city spokesperson says the council has the authority to strip the company of its license.

As for Window Depot USA of Mobile, the city tells FOX10 News the company does not have an active business license. The city says the license went inactive sometime this year. The city is now investigating when the license went inactive and whether the company has been providing services without one.

This week, the Window Depot USA corporate office said it had cut ties with the Mobile location, which was independently owned and operated. The Mobile branch is no longer authorized to use its name, trademark, or branding.

According to the Better Business Bureau and Secretary of State filings, both companies are linked to Ward and Theresa Fendley, who are husband and wife.

Mobile police are actively investigating more than 50 cases against the companies, and city officials say that number is growing.

According to court documents and customer reports, the Fendleys owe customers and other businesses more than $1.1 million.

“I don’t know how you can legally get away with taking this much money,” said Dakota Bilbrey, customer.

“The citizens affected by this matter deserve answers, accountability, and every possible effort to help recover what has been lost,” said Barbara McCleskey, customer.

FOX10 News went back by the business this afternoon, and like every time, the doors were locked. The lights were on, but nobody came to the door.

The Fendleys have not responded to requests for comment. No charges have been filed against them.
