SLED: Two Horry County women charged with insurance fraud
MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - State authorities said two women in Horry County are facing insurance fraud charges.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division charged both Unique Johnson,29, and Jamela Jolly, 33, this week with presenting a False Claim for an Insurance Payment.
The South Carolina Department of Insurance requested the SLED investigation.
According to warrants, in May, the pair submitted a false claim for insurance payment to First Acceptance Insurance.
They then reportedly filed a fraudulent claim by reporting they were hurt from being hit from behind in a hit-and-run crash on Forestbrook.
Documents state that an investigation determined the crash never happened.
The two reportedly falsely claimed more than $25,000 for medical bills.
Johnson was arrested Thursday and is out on a $10,000 bond.
Both Johnson and Jolly were booked into the Horry County Detention Center.
Jolly was arrested Tuesday and is out on a $5,000 bond.
The case will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Department of Insurance.
